What do you want to know about Maddie*Kate

We really need your input on this question, as we were asked to be the guest writer this month on the Boutique Buyers Blog. They were so sweet to ask us to write a little something, and it can be on anything, but I think maybe it's supposed to be so you can get to know a little more about us?? Please leave us a comment on what you think and maybe there might be a little prize for the best answer.

We had planned on taking pictures of our sweet little Valentine's set today, but something was wrong with my camera and I couldn't figure it out until it started getting dark, so we will be listing it tomorrow. The matching boys set will probably be ready on Thursday. Yipee!

Mallory had some "homework" this week and she had to decorate a green piece of construction paper to be a feather for their class turkey. Of course we waited to start on it until tonight. You really didn't want to see my breakfast table before I cleaned it up...So I'll share the finished product. I sure hope I won't need any purple buttons anytime soon.

I have to share a funny little story from our morning. With the time change, my kids have been waking up around 6:30, which gives us PLENTY of time to get ready for school, eat breakfast, and if that goes smoothly, I let them watch TV for a little bit. I was getting myself ready and I could hear them in the other room talking about what show was coming on next. Well, the next show this morning was Sponge Bob. Mallory was so funny, as soon as the theme song started playing, she shouted, "Jackie, we have to change the channel! Sponge Bob will give us bad dreams!" I don't know where she comes up with these things...

Halloween Pictures

So, I finally had a little break this afternoon. I finished all my customs that needed to get shipped out, Mallory was at my mom's house, and Jack went to the International Car Show in Tampa with Nate and my dad. So I decided it was time to edit the pictures!! I think with all the Halloween festivities that we went to in October, I probably took 800 pictures. I'm not kidding. Maybe that's why I've been putting this off for so long.

For all of our AMAZING, WONDERFUL buyers, we just wanted to let you know that we will probably only be listing 2-3 more custom sets this year. ** Be on the lookout for matching brother and sister Valentine's sets. They're going to be so cute!!** We have been sewing our behinds off this whole year without any real breaks. I know I need a break. My poor house has been neglected for far too long. It desparately needs a deep cleaning, the closets need to be cleaned out and my sewing room needs to be cleaned out!!

I keep trying to put a little bug in Nate's ear about remodeling our kitchen (we planned on having it done last year at this time, but it was going to cost WAY more than we had anticipated.) So, with my time off from sewing, I might make a few trips to some cabinet and appliance stores to see what's out there. You'd think with the way the economy is going, these people would be giving things away just to get some business. We'll see...

These are out in front of our house. Yes, we have a blow-up haunted house in the yard...I only allow it from 5-9pm on Halloween day. Jack got bitten by a mosquito earlier in the day right underneath his eye, so that's why it looks like someone punched him. You will see in the rest of the pictures that he doesn't have his sword...he decided to jab Mallory right in the eye with it, so it was thrown away. I guess Dorothy was a real threat.

How $4 in Candy turns in to $136 at the Vet...

So this morning, I decided that it was time for me to get my butt in gear and start exercising... Maybe because I ate too much candy this weekend?? Maybe it's because my jeans are WAY too tight?? Anyway, our dog, Sammy, always goes with me to take the kids to school if I don't have anywhere to go that morning. Since I decided that I needed to exercise, I wasn't going to bring her along in the car, as she is very difficult to walk on a leash.

When I got home about 45 mintues later, I opened the door from the garage and all I see is Milk Dud candy wrappers all over the kitchen floor and NO dog in sight!! So I start calling her name and she doesn't come running, which makes me think that she is either dead or in another room with more candy and trying to eat it as quickly as possible! I found her in Mallory's bedroom with a the wrapper from a bag of Twix! There are no wrappers or candy, just the bag!!! I quickly got her leash and we headed out to the Vet's office...

Sammy is all better now, after spending the day at the Vet's office and getting a shot to make her throw up. They had a long list of candy that they found, so she must have gotten in to other bags as well. The candy is now safely in the freezer where she hasn't figured out how to get it...yet...

I am still going through the Halloween pictures, so as soon as I get a free minute, I will post them here.

We just listed this cute BOYS Candy Land set. It's 2-pcs and will be re-created in a size 12m-8.

Rest in Peace, Dear Grandma Dorothy

Nathan got a phone call yesterday from his uncle letting us know that his Grandmother had passed away in her sleep Thursday night. She had been suffering from pancreatic cancer. She was 91 years old and such an amazing woman. We will miss you Grandma Dorothy. We know that you are dancing in Heaven with Grandpa Carroll.

Here she is holding Mallory when she was a few weeks old.

New CandyLand Listing on eBay

We just listed this darling Euro-style CandyLand dress, custom sized 2T-6. No details were left of this dress!!
You can find the listing by clicking here.

Poor little Jack was sick early Sunday morning, which I thought was from his flu shot, as every time he has ever gotten a flu shot, he ends up throwing up for at least 24 hours. Well, it must have been a different type of virus, as I found myself in bed yesterday afternoon not feeling so good. Thankfully, my sweet husband came home from work early and took over the kids, dog, household chores for the evening. I'm so much better today, but I don't want to see or smell BBQ pulled pork for a long time!

We will be heading out tomorrow night for a fun time on our street with our little parade. The weather is supposed to be beautiful! We hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween!!

I'll leave you with a new picture of sweet little Sydney.

Halloween Overload

Halloween isn't until Friday, a whole 3 days away and I'm already ready for it to be over with.
First, we HAD to decorate the house on October 1st, per Mallory. Last Friday, we had a pumpkin play date at the pumpkin patch and then to a friend's house to decorate the pumpkins. We went to a Halloween Spooktacular event this Saturday night where the kids got enough candy for us to hand out to the entire neighborhood. Sunday was a Halloween themed birthday party. Monday was the little pumpkin walk with the kids school and tomorrow is the Halloween party at school, where I will be helping out with some games and taking pictures. On Halloween, our street has a parade, where the police block off the street and the street next to ours and all the neighbors come out in their driveways and hand out candy to about 100-200 kids from our little town. Right before the parade, we have another Halloween themed birthday party to go to...

Tonight we had Mallory's little end-of-soccer pizza party where she got a medal. She was so proud of it! It was so cold out there, my poor ears were hurting. Not the typical Florida October weather, that's for sure. I think it's supposed to be in the 40's here tonight. Just the other night, I think it was 75, so that's a big change!

Here are some pictures of our Halloween adventures!

Here's the whole gang. All the kids had those dracula teeth in their mouths to be silly.

Here is our darling Halloween wreath by Andrea. You can find her website here.

We hung some ghosts up in our palm trees in the front yard too.

This is where we walk to for the pumpkin walk. It's about 2 blocks away from the church/preschool.

Jack picked a perfect pumpkin!

Here are Mallory and her classmates walking down the steps to the pumpkin patch!

Listening intently to the story being told...

Great Words by Paul Harvey

Paul Harvey Writes:
We tried so hard to make things better for our kids that we made them worse. For my grandchildren, I'd like better.I'd really like for them to know about hand me down clothes and homemade ice cream and leftover meat loaf sandwiches. I really would.

I hope you learn humility by being humiliated, and that you learn honesty by being cheated.I hope you learn to make your own bed and mow the lawn and wash the car.And I really hope nobody gives you a brand new car when you are sixteen.
It will be good if at least one time you can see puppies born and your old dog put to sleep.
I hope you get a black eye fighting for something you believe in.
I hope you have to share a bedroom with your younger brother/sister. And it's all right if you have to draw a line down the middle of the room, but when he wants to crawl under the covers with you because he's scared, I hope you let him.

When you want to see a movie and your little brother/sister wants to tag along, I hope you'll let him/her.I hope you have to walk uphill to school with your friends and that you live in a town where you can do it safely. On rainy days when you have to catch a ride, I hope you don't ask your driver to drop you two blocks away so you won't be seen riding with someone as uncool as your Mom.
If you want a slingshot, I hope your Dad teaches you how to make one instead of buying one.I hope you learn to dig in the dirt and read books.
When you learn to use computers, I hope you also learn to add and subtract in your head.
I hope you get teased by your friends when you have your first crush on a boy\girl, and when you talk back to your mother that you learn what ivory soap tastes like.
May you skin your knee climbing a mountain, burn your hand on a stove and stick your tongue on a frozen flagpole.
I don't care if you try a beer once, but I hope you don't like it.. And if a friend offers you dope or a joint, I hope you realize he is not your friend.
I sure hope you make time to sit on a porch with your Grandma/Grandpa and go fishing with your Uncle.
May you feel sorrow at a funeral and joy during the holidays.
I hope your mother punishes you when you throw a baseball through your neighbor's window and that she hugs you and kisses you at Hannukah/Christmas time when you give her a plaster mold of your hand.
These things I wish for you - tough times and disappointment, hard work and happiness. To me, it's the only way to appreciate life.

Maddie*Kate Euro Oilily Dress

We just listed this sweet little Euro dress made with Oilily fabric. It is One-of-a-kind and will best fit a little girl in sizes 3-4-5, or even a 6 as a long top paired with some jeans!
You can find the listing on eBay by clicking here. Please remember to search "Boutique MK" now for our listings.

I got a great tip from another blog that I read (thanks Erin!), who had read about it on Mom Shots Blog, on how to get your kids to look at the camera when you are taking their pictures. I've always just told them to "look at the circle", but that never kept their attention. So after I read the tip, I grabbed my kids and headed out to the backyard. Jack is always easy to take pictures of, but Mallory is my challenge. I think they both did pretty great and I might have my picture for the little necklace that I want to buy for myself.
