Maddie*Kate New Euro Bunny Listing

All of our company left today. We had a wonderful time visting the zoo, the aquarium, local parks, and the beach! I'm so tired and I was sick with a cold/ear infection almost the whole time they were here. It was great catching up with my friend (whose name is Casey too), as we had not seen each other in 2 years. Her little girls are just as cute as can be. I will post pictures from some of our outings soon. As soon as we dropped them off at the airport this morning, Mallory was already asking when we were going to go on the airplane to visit Avery in Illinois. With her starting kindergarten in the Fall, we are going to probably have to take our trip this August! So much fun to see all the green corn fields. I think the kids will love it, probably not as much as playing in the snow like we did last time we were there, but it should be fun!

#124...sigh...

So today was the day to call in and find out if Mallory got accepted in to the fundamental school here. It was a random lottery and she did not get in. She is #124 on the wait list. There were 78 openings for kindergarten, and none of her little friends got in either. A few of them are close to the top of the waiting list, so they will probably get in at some point next year. We will just have to wait until next year. For some reason, I'm really upset about this. Maybe because I went to school there and my sister's kids hav gone there, so I just assumed that Mallory would be the next one to go there as well. Thankfully, my girlfriend and her two little girls are on their way down here from Illinois for the week, so we will be busy doing lots of fun things to keep my mind off of it.

Tornado Warning

I was busy cleaning the house this morning, getting ready for the arrival of my best friend from college and her two girls, so I told Mallory to go draw a picture for me. She loves art, so she jumped at the chance to go create! A few minutes went by and she was asking for some tape. I kind of chuckled when I saw what she had made, as I remembered what we were watching on TV last night before she went to bed and the converstaion we had about the events in the show. Funny thing is, we had a tornado warning here this morning because of a cold front moving in. I got an announcement from Mallory, "This is a TORNADO WARNING!!! See all the warnings I put up for you?"

We were watching Storm Chasers last night and she said, "Mommy, Ms. Stacey (her teacher) said that tornadoes can't hurt you, but lightning can." I told her that tornadoes can't hurt you unless you are inside or really close to a tornado, like the lady on TV who was thrown a 1/2 mile by a tornado.





I think this one has houses up inside the tornado?

One More Week...

7 more days...168 more hours...10,080 more minutes...until we find out where Mallory will be attending kindergarten next year!! In our county, we have the choice of going to our neighborhood school, going to a private school, or applying for a magnet school or a fundamental school (which are both public). When you apply for a magnet or fundamental school, your student ID# gets put in to a lottery. Only a certain amount of students will get accepted, based on the number of openings the school that you apply for has. We applied for a fundamental school, the same school that my sister and I went to, and the same school that my niece and nephew have gone to. There are 78 openings in kindergarten this year, which is a BLESSING for us, as normally there are only about 30 openings. They are adding a 5th kindergarten class this year, as they moved to a larger campus AND only 12 siblings of current students will be coming (as compared to 25-30 that they normally get). Fundamental schools are more strict with behavioral issues and require more parental involvement. The parents MUST attend all the PTA meetings. If you miss 2 of them, your child will be kicked out of school. I think all schools should require more parental involvement and be strict with behavioral issues...

I asked the principal when I went on a tour, how many people normally apply for her school, and she said usually about 200-250. Mallory has about a 1 in 3 chance of getting in. So....we wait....with our fingers crossed.

The other day we had a little cold front come through with a rain shower. It was still quite warm outside, so I let the kids put on their rainboots and have some fun.



Mallory did not want to get her skirt wet. LOL










Jack is my anal child. He does not like to be dirty or wet, so he lost his mind when he got water and leaves in his boots.



That was the end of playing in the puddles!

All sugared out...

So it started Thursday night at the Florida State Fair...lots of "fair" food and then the overload of Valentine's candy from the kids parties at school on Friday, followed by cupcakes Friday afternoon and more candy from Nate and my mom Saturday morning...then the cookies covered in icing, sprinkles and conversational heart candies that they made Saturday night at our church's babysitting service...topped off with cake today at a birthday Sunday. Starting tomorrow morning, the only sugar my kids are going to consume will be all natural from fruits!!

Even though the kids (and I) had WAY too much sugar this weekend, we had so much fun at the fair with my parents and my niece and nephew. The weather was perfect, the crowds were light and the food was yummy!!

Friday after school, I invited some of my great friends over with their kids to play in the backyard and enjoy some juice boxes and "mommy" juice. The house was destroyed by the time Nate got home from work, but after the 3 Sangrias I had, I really didn't care if the house was messy.

Saturday we ran a few errands as a family, which was surprisingly not a terible thing and then we dropped the kids off at church for the wonderful babysitting service that they offered for Valentine's day. Nate and I drove down to the beach and met up with another couple, watched the sunset over the water and enjoyed a delicious dinner at the Sand Pearl.

Playing in the leaves

So I know that most of you have leaves to rake up throughout September and October, well our leaves don't fall until February and March. We live right on the curved part of our street, so when people drive by, they push the leaves up in to our yard from the street. I had a few of Jack's little friends here on Saturday, so we decided to rake up some of the leaves and jump in them. The kids had a blast covering me up in the leaves and I had fun covering them up too!







This is hilarious. Jack thought he was going to "surf" in the leaves, so of course, he needed Mallory's mermaid goggles and his Spiderman boogie board. And don't forget about posing like a Power Ranger too. That makes you surf even better!! Those goggles aren't very flattering, are they? :-)
